La Jassine rocks. Perfect home & great location

We stayed at La Jassine for two weeks in October as part of a House Swap arrangement. Prior to our arrival, we had positive communications with Paul and Sandra and decided to extend our originally planned one week stay by another week. This worked out extremely well for us. La Jassine is a beautiful house in the countryside in Provence 70 kms north of Marseille. It is extremely well equipped and lacks for nothing. The house is just a few kilometres from Lourmarin which is one of the prettiest towns in France and which offers a range of very good eateries and artistic offerings. We visited a few of the local restaurants but in the main we cooked ourselves. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space to move around both inside the house and by the swimming pool. We had good intentions regarding using the tennis court and swimming pool (both of which are very well maintained). However, whilst we rested and relaxed for quite a number of days, we also used it as a base for radiating day trips to the many exceptional scenic wonders of the area such as Milau (amazing viaduct), Nimes (old Roman amphitheatre, tower, town square, tree gardens), Avignon (massive castle), Orange (old Roman amphitheatre), Camargue (flamingos and white horses), Pont du Gard (old Roman aquaduct), Marseille (lovely buildings and scenery), L’Isle-Sur-La-Sorgue (great market in a very picturesque setting), etc We emphatically recommend staying at La Jassine.

The Amazing La Jassine

La Jassine is a beautiful homely house in an amazing setting with lovely patio area, swimming pool and tennis court. We spent many hours relaxing and eating our meals on the patio by the swimming pool. We were there in September so the water in the pool was cold but most of us still swam every day. The nearest boulangerie with delicious croissants and pain au chocolats was a 20 minute walk or a few minute drive away, in Vaugines, where there is also a great restaurant: Le P'tit Resto which we would recommend. Loumarin is a beautiful, picturesque village with lots of little shops, cafes and restaurants. It is about a 40-50 minute walk or 10 minute drive away. The morning weekly market at Curcuron is good fun at the Place d'Etang which featured in the film 'The Good Year'. We enjoyed a challenging forest walk up the hill behind the house. A very special holiday and we would love to come back!

Perfect for family time

My, what a wonderful week we had! It restored my flagging energy levels, and was such a wonderful place for us as a family. I can't recall when last, if ever, I had my 19 year old son playing with his little brother of 8, and his sisters all together. And they even managed to persuade their dad to play Marco Polo with us which was a first. There was a lot of pool play and the tennis court was great fun. A very special time for us. We would love to return to the magic La Jassine.

Beautiful secluded holiday villa.

Fantastic villa in a wonderfully secluded spot. We spent a week there and the time flew by. Having our own private tennis court and the pool to cool off in after a game was fantastic! The house is well equipped and perfect for lazing around by the pool or in the hammock. However, there is lots to explore in the surrounding area - Lourmarin is lovely, but for somewhere equally nice but less touristic Cucuron is perfect. Sandra very quick to answer any questions we had. We would definitely return at some point!

Beautiful, serene rural Provence setting & villa

This was our 4th stay at La Jassine and we will be back. Need we say more?! The villa is comfortable and has all you need for a relaxing stay. It is surrounded by vineyards, orchards and birdsong. Hiking trails into the Luberon forest and mountains pass by the end of the driveway. Superb cycling roads and routes from the villa. There are numerous gorgeous villages within 3-7 km, each with a weekly market. Sandra and Paul are delightful and responsive hosts. Enjoy!

A beautiful place to relax and enjoy life

La Jassine is a wonderful house, it is very peaceful and private with a lovely view yet close to some great towns, Lourmarin especially is a gem. We loved the tennis court and the space upstairs.

Feels like Home

This was our second stay and we will return. The property is ideally located near Lourmarin. We visited different nearby villages each day picking up fresh items at their farmer markets. The area is rural and we always felt very safe. We stayed for two weeks and our next visit will be longer.

Fabulous Provence retreat!

We have stayed at La Jassine 3x over the past 5 years and will return again May 2018. The villa is cozy and well outfitted with a large pool and the location peaceful and private with beautiful views of surrounding vineyards, orchards and mountains. Hiking and cycling can be done from the front door. There are at least 5 quaint French villages and weekly markets within 3-6 km. Paul and Sandra are very responsive and friendly. We love La Jassine!

Memorable Family Vacation

Our family of five spent over two weeks at La Jassine and had a wonderful time. After a couple days we were already talking about returning someday. This is a very comfortable house with lots of room and everything that you need for a long-term stay. The location was perfect for us. It was quiet and out-of-the-way but within walking distance of Lourmarin, Vaugines and Cucuron. We spent more time in Lourmarin but loved the walk to Cucuron, going through vineyards and farms. It's not a short walk but amazing that you can do it and hardly set foot on a paved road. We also enjoyed just relaxing at the house. The view is beautiful and you feel like you have the Luberon to yourself. The house is well taken care of, too -- this is not a barely adequate rental property but there is a fully-stocked kitchen providing everything you would need for cooking. We would love to make a return visit!

La Jassine is very nicely located at the end of a little country lane, about 10 minutes drive to a beautiful village Lourmarin. The house is spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. The swimming pool is rather small but together with the hammock and large table and chairs provide an ideal place for relaxation. The tennis court is a bonus and we played there every day. Perfect location for truly Provencal style holidays!

Romantic Provencal Experience

My partner and I carefully selected La Jassine for a week away in the sun and time alone. We enjoyed much more than that, as La Jassine provided us a truly romantic getaway where we could recharge and yet experience the true Provencal lifestyle. The home is well kept, very spacious, well equipped and very private. The pool was delightful after many hot days in the sun and the tennis court was a bonus for the times we had the energy to play a game or two!

A wonderfully relaxing spot

La Jassine is a wonderfully relaxing villa situated just outside the beautiful Lourmarin town and very central to many amazing attractions. It's a very comfortable place which easily housed our family of four. The house is very well equipped and comfortably furnished. My only comment would be that the bed linen and pillows could be updated. Sandra was a wonderful hostess providing great communication and information. We would happily stay at La Jassine again.

Classic Provence experience

Located at the end of a little country road, La Jassine is just an idyllic location. Quiet, and protected from the winds on one side, with views of the mountains on the other side. The house was exactly as we anticipated a Provence house would be and we were just delighted. The large dining table inside or the patio table by the pool were great locations for lunch or dinner. The local boulangerie in Vaugines was only a few minutes drive away and was voted by us as having the best croissants in France. The location was excellent with easy day drives to the surrounding hill top villages. The market in nearby Lourmarin was terrific and probably one of the best in the region. Pertuis is the closest major town with a couple of huge supermarkets plus artisan boulangeries (not as good as the Vaugines croissants!) Sandra and Paul were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We would love to go back.

Great location with all the amenities

Have stayed in a number of properties throughout France over the years and La Jassine ranks right up there with the best of them. Instructions from the hosts were spot on and we had no problem finding the place. Tons of room for the kids, who loved the pool. The wife and I enjoyed the tennis court. We ALL got the most out of the BBQ out back. Beds were comfortable, kitchen will equipped, and most importantly the kids went home happy!!! Was really a slice of heaven for us – so much to see and do in the area. Would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone and can say for certain that we will be back at some point.

Provence’s finest – La Jassine

La Jassine is a spectacular spot! Hiking, Biking, Tennis and pool – it has everything for those who enjoy the outdoors. The beautiful sunshine, weather (and delicious foods and local wines close by) make it the perfect setting for those who wish to get a true Provencal experience. For those who like to put up their feet and relax you will definitely be at peace here. La Jassine has plenty of space, charm, even hammocks for those wishing to lounge by the pool. Paul and Sandy were more than helpful in setting up our stay which allowed for a truly relaxing and hassle-free vacation. Thank you Paul and Sandy! I will definitely plan a trip back to La Jassine very soon!

Little Piece of Paradise in Provence

My wife and I had an amazing time at Paul and Sandra's villa. Absolutely everything was perfect. The place is spacious, comfortable and clean. It has a breathtaking view on the Luberon Mountains and it is perfectly located to visit Provence. The pool and the tennis court made our stay even more enjoyable. Paul and Sandra had prepared everything perfectly for our arrival and the communication with them was very easy. They are without a doubt the kindest hosts that we have had. We recommend this villa 100%. It is an absolute steal. Paul and Sandra - Thank you again for your hospitality. We truly hope we will be able to come back to your amazing villa one day.

Provence perfection

I feel that I blinked and a week was gone. It has been divine, easily the best place we've rented anywhere around the world. This is one home that actually exceeds its internet descriptions and photos. The house is spacious, with comfortable beds and furniture. The views from the second floor "office" are lovely and the room itself is inviting. For most of the day, the only sounds to be heard come from birds and the light hum of the fridge! Numerous nearby villages make for great evening strolls--Lourmarin, as well as Vaugines, Cucuron, Cadenet, Ansious, are each worthy of a visit. There are splendid Michelin-starred and other decent restaurants within a 5-10 min drive, as well as excellent marches to stock up on food. I highly recommend the Lourmarin marche (comparable in size and scope to Apt's and Vaison la Romaine's, but go early because it gets crowded), as well as the small but comprehensive one in Cadenet. In sum, there's too much to do in a week, so stay longer if you can. (We enjoyed the private tennis court and private pool, too!) You'll get an authentic Provencal experience in the midst of comfort and serenity. Deepest thanks to the owners of La Jassine for sharing their home with the world.

Provence at its Very Best

A wonderful two weeks in the heart of Provnce. We want to thank the Becketts for the use of their lovely home "La Jassine", which we used as a homebase for exploring more than a dozen villages in the Luberon. To tour all day and be able to return to the tranquility of La Jassine was like being home. The beauty, the indescribable peace and quiet! The house and the location couldn't have been more perfect. Thanks again to Paul and Sandra for allowing us to find and enjoy the Luberon, we couldn't have done it without La Jassine.

fantastic stay

We had a brilliant time at La Jassine where we stayed for a week in April. The setting is idyllic, and makes a perfect base to discover Provence. Communication with the owners was second to none and we were made to feel welcome and valued before, during and after our stay. The tennis courts were fabulous, the weather was amazing and we just had a wonderful time. Thank you Sandra and Paul for helping to make it so special. We hope to return one day.

A memorable stay at La Jassine

Although our encounter with the hosts was quite brief we enjoyed so much meeting with them. The feeling is so nice in their house where you can see that all has been arranged to make your stay comfortable and worriless. We felt very privileged to be able to get so easily to Lourmarin which is such a nice and quaint village typical of the Luberon and of Provence. We also appreciated the fact that the house is located in such a good environment that one can easily walk around the nearby hills or drive towards so many of the places of interest which are available in the vicinity of La Jassine. Indeed a very memorable stay at this excellent home.

Most comfortable stay in a beautiful house with an amazing view on the Luberon mountains!

Thank you Sandra for a wonderful time in your beautiful home! We had a great autumn week in La Jassine. This is a very complete and luxurious villa. What we enjoyed very much was opening the volets in the morning to see the Luberon mountains waking up! Really a place to return to.

A beautiful mas in the heart of the Luberon

This was our second stay at La Jassine, for 3 weeks in the spring of 2014. It won't be the last. This is a beautiful understated mas in a stunning private location nestled behind a cherry orchard and located at the end of a charming lane, and which happens also to be the trailhead to a 3 hour hike to the top of the spine of the Luberon a mere 300 meters away, with its own stunning views of the valley: Mont Saint-Victoire to the south, and Mont Ventoux to the north. Tired of hiking? You can ride a mountain bike up the same range from the charming village of Lourmarin just a few km away, and with fabulous road cycling (hills, flats or both) from your doorstep as well. Check out the concert series at the Chateau de Lourmarin or sip a glass of wine in nearby Cucuron where you will buy your local wine and olive oil. There is a village market open virtually every day of the week within 10-45 minutes drive, and the larger center of Aix within 30 minutes. It is truly hard to say enough, with the pool, the tennis court, and above all else the surrounding charm of the Luberon mountain range rising up from the north facing windows. A very special place where you can relax in complete peace and quiet, yet within easy reach of all the amenities of the south of France at your doorstep.

Wonderful week in a beautiful location

We had an amazing week at La Jassine. We had spent two years living there many years previous and had loved it, and our return visit certainly matched our memories. The setting is idyllic: the house is quiet and private, with a stunning view of the Luberon mountains, but close to charming villages with bustling markets and cafes, excellent restaurants, historic ruins and rustic hikes. The house has a spacious living area that opens out onto a beautiful terrace, perfect for leisurely market-fresh meals. The rooms are well-appointed, the pool is great for a post-hike dip and the tennis court looks out to the same view of the mountains. We had a really lovely week and hope to return again sometime!
